Java Server Faces (JSF) is a Java framework in which web applications are built with pre fabricated components. The use of components creates a clear
separation between the work of graphic artists (the view) and that of the developers (model and controller).
Starting with the 2.X release of JSF, Facelets are the default view template. They use XML to embed components into standard HTML pages
(.xhtml extension). This further simplifies the crossover between art and science.
Java Server Faces runs without difficulty on Apache Tomcat. JSF is supported on all of our hosting plans.
That said, a servlet container such as Tomcat does not ship with the JavaEE components needed for Java Server Faces. Please use the following instructions
to deploy your JSF application on our servers. The below is for JSF 2 (the earlier releases have been deprecated)
If you only want to use JSF managed beans (no CDI, etc.):
Open the distribution and copy jsf-api.jar and jsf-impl.jar into the WEB-INF/lib directory of your web application. (If you want the jars from
version 2.03, current as of August 1, 2010, we have them available here.
If you want to use CDI, validation, etc.:
Download this bundle of Java Server Faces jars and place them into your application's WEB-INF/lib directory. This bundle is current as of August 1, 2010.
Make sure that you have a beans.xml file in WEB-INF (it can be empty).
Make sure that you have a faces-config.xml file in WEB-INF (a minimum requirements version is here.)
Add the following to your web.xml:

</listener>
