With its current release (v 2.2), Apache Cocoon is a Spring based framework. Like most frameworks, it keeps the various development disciplines separate which improves work flow and speeds project completion.
The core modules of Cocoon provide Spring integration, sitemap and pipeline integration and include a Portal implementation. Other modules are available; Cocoon calls these blocks and packages them as a Java archive (jar). For a list of blocks, visit available Cocoon Blocks.
All of our Tomcat hosting plans support Apache Cocoon.
To deploy Cocoon to your Tomcat, use a build tool (Maven, your IDE, etc.) to create a war file then drop the war into the webapps directory. Do this while your Tomcat is running and, within a few seconds, the war will deploy and your app will be available.
